Shan Wang
Instructor

Shan dabbled in dance in high school (and loved it) but was a self-professed couch potato growing up. She especially hated running. In 2012, a friend introduced her to a pole class. Even though that first class was overwhelmingly hard, she was hooked by the mixture of grace and athleticism she saw and was determined to conquer the challenge. It also reawakened her interest in dance. She went back to California where she lived at the time, found a local pole studio and has been poling ever since. Pole has shown her all the amazing things her body can do and introduced her to a wonderfully close-knit, supportive community. She loves the escape that pole gives her, between the physical demands of pole and the mental demands of dance, choreography, and expression. (She, however, still hates running.) With a strong science background, she loves to geek out on the technical body mechanics of pole and help others achieve their goals by sharing that knowledge. In 2019, she became a certified instructor through Discoveries Dance to help others find pride and confidence in their bodies through pole.
